Trade School Amsterdam
Barter for Knowledge
Trade School is a self-organized learning space that runs on barter. Pay for class with a barter item (like food, supplies, or help) that your teacher requests. Anyone can teach a class, and students can sign up for classes by agreeing to bring barter items that the teacher requests. Trade School was started in 2010 in New York. Now self-organized Trade Schools are springing up in Milan, Virginia, LA, London, Singapore, and now also in Amsterdam!
In the past Trade Schools have hosted classes on everything from squatting the condos (in exchange for a kombucha mother and research help) to making butter (in exchange for herbs and music tips), bread baking, photo editing, website making, icecream freezing, cycle fixing, brick casting, furniture revamping, food growing and more. Trade School celebrates practical wisdom, mutual respect, and the social nature of exchange.
The first edition of Trade School Amsterdam will open its doors on October 1st at W139. From October 1st – 27th the opportunity to learn something new and unexpected will be available to all. All classes are in Dutch unless stated otherwise.
So visit the website and sign in for a class.
