Much ado about nothing

Just like the title of the comedy Much ado about nothing, my work too is full of contradictions. Layered yet minimalistic, it is about time and space but also about people’s relationship to it. About horror vacui and about emptiness. About things not seen, yet also about our surroundings. It seems that my images want to transform into nothing. Like music and performance they want to move, but this again is a contradiction in painting. My working process is intuitive and destructive. I make statements and take these back immediately. The paintings exist of multiple unfinished layers that communicate with one another; I see them as living organisms.
In the end meaning has to be given by the viewer, since the work is actually much ado about nothing.
