Pole#2 Polite Limitation

Maria Gondek

In a new work for the entrance of W139, Maria Gondek constructs an installation that explores the ambivalent function of the space as part entrance, part exhibition space. Playing with elements such as tension and humour, the work investigates the temporary reliability of the situation encountered at the entrance.

Working site specifically, Maria Gondek transforms everyday materials to create immediate experiences. Encouraging viewers to be aware of their presence in and around a space, her installations often initiate a social responsibility which is imposed as a valid part of the work. Her constructions convey tangible encounters that poetically manifest as self-referential implications.
