Improvisation as Navigation

Previous 1 /  Next

Fazle Shairmahomed would like to invite you to explore his choreographic score for dance and movement improvisation - The Synaesthesia of Space - in the intervention CAPITALOCEAN at W139. The score is a participatory work, currently presented in our exhibition space.

This workshop is an invitation to navigate through the exhibition space, in which you search for the spaces in between. The score is written from the experiences of research participants at one of the public beach sessions in Scheveningen, in which they investigated the crystallization process of sea water on their bodies. The research as such departed from the Body Weather, which is a comprehensive training and performance practice that investigates the intersections of bodies and their environments. Bodies are conceived just like the weather, constantly changing through an infinite and complex system of processes occurring in- and outside of these bodies.
